Server1: Rebooting; Hard Drive Replacement

At 12:05 PM CST on March 27, 2010 server1 became unresponsive. We immediately began the process of rebooting the machine. Our technicians have indicated an issue on the server's console display.

Although we do not have an ETA, it is estimated to be resolved within the next 30-60 minutes. The network operations team is working to resolve this issue and get the server back online as soon as possible.

We apologize for any inconvenience this unscheduled issue may have caused you.

Our NOC technician has detected a failure of the primary hard drive in server1. We are in the process of replacing the hard drive replaced with a fresh one, and will reinstall the server software (cPanel/Fantastico). When this is completed, we will begin pulling from our weekly account backups and restoring them for all the accounts on the server.

We will keep posting regular updates on the reinstall process and restore process in this thread.

The base OS has been reinstalled on the fresh primary drive and the backup drive has been reattached. We are currently configuring the system and reinstalling cPanel/Fantastico. Once that is done, we will begin restoring accounts from the backup drive for you and you should have access. Thanks for your patience.

cPanel is still installing. We will keep you updated as we begin the account restores process when the install completes.

The cpanel installation has finished and we are tuning a few parameters and are beginning to restore accounts at this time.

Server tweaks are done. Apache/PHP are being recompiled at this time. Account restores are next.

Account restores have started, sites are being restored and latest MySQL database backup is being applied following account restore, to bring the account to the most current state possible.

Restores are progressing alphabetically. About 16% done so far. Accounts starting with A through D, and any other accounts requested to be expedited, have been restored.
