Server5 issues...
It's all fine and dandy that things are back up. well, were. Since 11AM it seems my site can't connect to the database server. The MySQL db is on Benz right?
Kinda sucks after working hard to get my sites members back then a few days later the sites gone AGAIN. :curse: |

I am also not able to get to my site or cpanel. i was doing well after reloading to server 5, but now...... whats the deal?

Server 5 is down
Has been down for hours now.
I'm feeling like a HUGE SUCKER right about now. I persisted with Ronnie through the Hummer crash, got my sites moved to server 5, and now server 5 is down. The word I got was that they upgraded something, rebooted (in the middle of the day???), and the machine wouldn't come up. Something about a memory problem. Whatever, there's no excuse at this point. I have put untold hours into getting my site up and advertised, money out the wazoo, and this is costing me bigtime. I guess all those with sites that need the 99% uptime that's advertised have moved on. :curse: :curse: :curse: :curse: :curse: |

i had a feeling that EVERYONE moving to server 5 would end up causing trouble
i specifically asked that even..... 'would it be better just to stay at hummer if everyone else is moving to server five... therefore adding a huge load to it' ? should have just stayed on hummer.. and had them reset everything up there (seeing that i lost everything that i had on hummer) this had better be taken care of by the time i get home from work tonight... and i agree.. im definately feeling like an idiot now.. for being calm and waiting through the hummer ordeal |

I need a status. I'm not getting responses to support ticket asking for status or ETA. I can't and won't go through another prolonged outage.

Yeah, my sites on server 5 are down too.
Ronnie, I'm sure you're working your tail off - but that isn't enough. Please give us status reports frequently. If you don't have time to do it, dictate the highlights to one of your staff and have him/her prepare a draft that you can approve before it is posted. I think an update is needed every hour. Please, please, please show that you learned something about the critical need for communication from the last outage. You apologized, but if you do the same thing again within days it will be hard to overlook.

Hi, status update: the data center techs had to take our server5 machine down for emergency maintenance, as they detected some pending hardware failures on the machine. (How does that "Murphy's Law" thing go again? just kidding, what terrible timing!) :bawling:
They initially stated a memory issue, but in fact are doing some drive component adjustments on the CPU. We've paid top dollar to have them hurry up this process, but they don't have an ETA yet (no, this is not the same fiasco all over again!) We should be up within an hour or two and back to normal. I know this looks terrible to you, our valued clients, who have been most understanding. All we can figure is this is the worst luck we've ever experienced, far from normal. We must apologize profusely to those clients who have suffered through the Hummer issue, and then server5's emergency maintenance as well.

The last update we received from them was 1 hour ago saying they are preparing the drive to go back in the server, which in my opinion should not be a lengthy process! I will get on the phone again and update you as soon as I have anything solid.

I can't believe this kind of thing happens. Isn't it time to change data centers? Aren't there systems in place to take these sites while maintenance is being performed. I don't see Yahoo going down for hours or days at a time. I don't see AlwaysWeb going down, either.

absolutely dying here. :\
i just got a call from a client who was impacted by the hummer-crash, they JUST checked to make sure everything was back up and running today (great timing) .. so yipee, they are insisting their site has been down for 3+ weeks. i'm thinking i need to invest in like 3 back-up servers for all my clients. :dead: |
