Thumbs up Server5: Upgrading Server [Completed]

Hello, we are happy to announce that are upgrading 'server5'. We have brought a newer, more powerful server online to replace the current machine and are about to begin the process of seamlessly migrating accounts over. The new server has the same MailScanner software, Fantastico, PHP/MySQL, etc. There is no downtime, or loss of email, or loss of functionality, just the performance boost of a newer, more powerful server!

Schedule:

During the next 12 hours, sites hosted on server5 will be copied over to the new server. (This time was selected to coincide with the Independence Day holiday as holidays are the least busy time on the Internet)

We will then automatically update the 'DNS zone file' for your domain so that your domain will resolve to the new server going forward. (If you host your own DNS, please follow note below).

Actions:

1. (Nearly all customers) If your domain is pointed to our DNS name servers, NO ACTION is required.

2. (advanced users only) If you host your own DNS for your domain, please update the IP address in your domain's zone file:

Old IP: 66.98.250.6
New IP: 74.55.203.18

Notes:

1. We will leave the 'old' machine online for approximately two weeks. During that time, you can login to cpanel by going to http://66.98.250.6/cpanel using your cpanel username/password. Our account transfer process copies files, emails, databases, settings, etc. It copies every last bit and byte of your account over. It is is well tested, has, and continues to work beautifully with no problems.

2. We have disabled FTP on the old server ONLY. This was done to avoid customer confusion where a user could FTP directly to old server's IP and the update not be on the new server. ("I uploaded a file but I don't see it online, help!") Please note you can access files via the "File Manager" in the cPanel.

3. HTTP is still running on the old server, in the event that a visitor's PC cache's the web site's IP address to the old server. Your site will continue to work whether it resolves to the old or new server during the 'DNS propagation' period.

4. (for advanced users) SSH is still accessible on the old server and new server on port 9394.

You can access the control panel on the new server using any of the following:

http//yourdomain.com/cpanel
http://server5.sslpage.com/cpanel

The last account transfers have completed. Everything went flawlessly as expected.

If you host your own DNS for a domain on server5, go ahead and change the IP address per Action #2 above. If your domain is registered via AWH or pointed to the AWH name servers, no action is required.

If you have any questions or run into any problems, please don't hesitate to submit a support ticket to us.

Thanks to all our valued customers, and Happy Independence Day!
